A.Q-Tip was born Jonathan William Davis in Harlem, New York on April 10, 1970. His other name is Kamaal Ibn Fareed, since he converted to Islam, and his stage name is Q-Tip. Jonathan Davis II, his father, and his mother are African Americans. When he was young, his family lived in St. Albans, New York City, and his father had a huge collection of jazz records.
